Changes in EU customs rules from 1st July 2026

This article was last updated 20-jul-26, it will be updated if the situation changes.

We ship to our EU customers from Norway (which is outside the EU), so our EU customers will have to pay the new 3 € Customs Duty. This new Customs Duty must be paid for all imports to EU, starting 1st July 2026.

There will be two categories of shipments, depending on whether the receiving country demands that the Customs Duty is pre-paid before shipment arrives.

Category 1: Countries demanding pre-payment

We will add a 3 EUR EU Customs Duty fee to each invoice for countries that demand pre-payment of the Customs Duty.

This is currently: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany Luxembourg and Portugal.

Pre-paid Customs Duty advantages: There should be no delay through customs, you already paid the VAT when placing your order. So shipments should be released to national postal service immediately.

Category 2: Countries not demanding pre-payment

This applies to all EU countries except Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany Luxembourg and Portugal.

This will happen when the shipment arrives in your country

  • Your shipment will be stopped by Customs
  • Customs will contact you, requesting payment of the 3 EUR Customs Duty.
  • When paid, the shipment will be released to your national postal service, that will take it to your mailbox.

You paid the VAT when placing the order, so there should be no other charges.

Finland and Åland

Customers in Finland and Åland can avoid the 3 € Customs Duty by ordering from our reseller in Finland: https://verkkokauppa.nurkantakaa.fi/osasto/amsleser/
